Yamamoto allows 1 run in 6 innings, Ohtani's grounder triggers error, Dodgers win fifth straight over Mets.

The Los Angeles Dodgers visited the New York Mets again on July 26. Starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto tossed 6 innings, allowing just 1 earned run. Together with Kyle Tucker's consecutive home runs and a Mets miscue on a potential double play, the Dodgers won 4-3, staying unbeaten versus the Mets in five meetings this year.

In the top of the third, Tucker launched a solo homer to put the Dodgers ahead 1-0. With one out, Dalton Rushing singled, and Shohei Ohtani hit a ground ball that could have been a double play, but a throwing error by Brett Baty left runners on first and third. Andy Pages brought in the second run on a fielder's choice, and a catcher's interference by Francisco Alvarez allowed the Dodgers to make it 3-0.

In the top of the fifth, leadoff batter Teoscar Hernandez doubled, and with two outs, Pages singled to extend the lead to 4-0. Yamamoto, who had allowed only two hits through four innings, gave up back-to-back hits to the first two batters in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Bo Bichette delivered an RBI single, cutting the score to 1-4.

Yamamoto exited after 6 innings, having thrown exactly 100 pitches. He allowed 5 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 5, surrendering just 1 run. In the bottom of the eighth, the Mets mounted a rally. Carson Benge was hit by a pitch, and the Dodgers then walked Luis Robert Jr. With two outs, pinch-hitter Tyrone Taylor doubled, narrowing the gap to 3-4, but the Mets fell short. With this loss, the Mets are now 0-5 against the Dodgers this season.
