For the first time, the finals adopted a new knockout system, and all single events were divided into three stages: preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals.

The new format is dramatic and spectacular. In the preliminary round, 12 players will compete for six semi-finals based on their results in Mexico and Canada at the World Cup, with 1st vs. 12th, 2nd vs. 11th, and so on. Each player is free to choose 3 moves, and at the end of the 3 rounds, the player with the highest score advances to the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, six players are divided into two groups of three players each, and the lowest score is eliminated, and the player must complete the unfinished action in the full diving list. In the final stage, 4 competitors must complete the complete diving list (6 moves for men) and the results will be calculated from scratch.

In the men's individual 3-meter springboard, China had two players advance to the final, and finally Wang Zongyuan won the gold medal with 519.25 points, Zheng Jiuyuan won the silver medal with 505.05 points, and Germany's Weissmann won the bronze medal with 430.45 points. Speaking about the new format after the race, Wang Zongyuan said, "It is challenging for us athletes, and we have to complete two sets of movements in two hours, we have to be highly focused, and it is also a challenge for physical fitness. ”
