0+0+0! A dramatic decline! The most disappointing signing for the Rockets emerges.

Finally defeating a playoff-caliber strong team, proving they are not just capable of beating weaker opponents...

The Rockets, with six players scoring double-digit points at home, comfortably defeated the Eastern Conference third-place New York Knicks 111-94.

After this game, the Rockets continue to hold the sixth position in the Western Conference with a record of 46 wins and 29 losses, tying with the fifth-place Minnesota Timberwolves and trailing the fourth-place Denver Nuggets by 1.5 games.

The Rockets have seven regular-season games remaining, facing opponents including the Bucks, Jazz, Warriors, Suns, Philadelphia, Timberwolves, and Grizzlies.

Considering the remaining schedule is not particularly difficult, the Rockets have a strong chance to push for the fourth spot in the Western Conference, establishing an advantage for the upcoming playoffs.

Speaking of which, there is one player on the Rockets who might be completely hopeless.

Finney-Smith has been DNP (Did Not Play) for three consecutive games, not due to injury but purely due to poor performance. Previously given opportunities to prove himself, he has failed, and this season he has not scored double-digit points in any game.

This player joined the Rockets last offseason with a four-year, $53 million contract, yet his performance has consistently fallen short of expectations. This season, he has played 35 games with one start, averaging 16.9 minutes per game, contributing 3.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1 assist. His shooting percentages are 31.7%, 26.9%, and 85.7% respectively. As mentioned, he has now fallen out of the rotation and is relegated to bench duty.

Recently, Rockets reporter Bradeaux updated social media, bluntly criticizing: "Finney-Smith is the worst-performing mid-level exception signing I have ever seen."

Finney-Smith was born on May 4, 1993, a wing player with a height of 2.01 meters and a wingspan of 2.13 meters. His best NBA season so far (2021-22, with the Mavericks) saw him average 11 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, hitting 2.2 three-pointers per game at a 39.5% rate. The Rockets signed him hoping he would replace Dillon Brooks' role, but unfortunately, things did not go as planned.

Speaking of Finney-Smith, he is currently 32 years old, theoretically still within the prime age range for basketball players. How did he suddenly experience such a dramatic decline? This summer offseason, he might be packaged in a trade for the Rockets to mitigate losses promptly, or simply be bought out to part ways early.
