Seventh Career Monthly MVP Award! Doncic Averaged 37+8+7 to Win the Honor and Also Received Nomination for Monthly Best Defensive Player

On April 3 Beijing time, Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic was named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Month for March. This marks his second time this season and the seventh time in his career to receive this monthly honor.

During the Lakers' 15-2 record in March, Doncic averaged 37.1 minutes per game, shooting 49.2% from the field, 39.2% from three-point range, and 79.4% from the free-throw line, leading the league with an average of 37.5 points, while also contributing 8.0 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 2.3 steals. His average of 37.5 points per game set the second-highest March scoring average in NBA history, only behind Kobe Bryant's average of 40.4 points in March 2007.

During this period, Doncic scored 30+ points in 13 consecutive games, including 7 games with 40+ points, 2 games with 50+ points, and a career-high 60 points for the Lakers in Miami. His total March points reached 600, making him one of only 10 players in NBA history to score 600+ points in a single month. In the team's 14 victories, this 27-year-old star accumulated 541 points—more than the total points scored by seven other NBA teams in all their March wins.

Doncic was the only player in March to rank in the top ten simultaneously in scoring (1st), assists (10th), and steals (3rd). When this Slovenian player was on the court, his scoring and assists accounted for 58% of the team's total points. On the defensive end,Doncic led all guards in defensive rebounds, ranked fourth in the league in drawing offensive fouls, and fifth in deflected passes, earning him a nomination for the March Player of the Month for Best Defense. Due to his outstanding performance, he was also named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week consecutively on March 17 and 24.

Doncic led the Lakers to a nine-game winning streak in March, including six victories on road trips. During the road trip from March 17 to 26, he became the first player since Michael Jordan in 1986 to average 40+ points per game over six consecutive away games.

So far this season, Doncic has played 63 games, all as a starter, averaging 35.9 minutes per game, leading the league with 33.8 points per game, along with 7.8 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.7 steals. He is the only player in the entire league averaging at least 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists per game, and is poised to achieve his third season averaging 32+ points, 7+ rebounds, and 7+ assists—a feat previously accomplished only by himself (2022-23, 2023-24 seasons) and Michael Jordan (1988-89 season).
