On April 5 Beijing time, the already dramatic saga surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo has become even more bizarre recently. News emerged that the NBA has officially launched an investigation into the Bucks for allegedly violating player rest policies and forcing Giannis to sit out. Prominent US media Bleacher Report stated that given how events have unfolded, a trade involving Giannis is almost inevitable. Once the offseason fully begins, the Bucks are expected to formally listen to offers from various teams. Below are several trade proposals from teams that the Bucks should seriously consider accepting.

1. New York Knicks: A Near-Maximum Offer
Bucks receive: Karl-Anthony Towns, 2028/2030/2032 first-round pick swap rights, three second-round picks
Knicks receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Even before the 2026 trade deadline passed and Giannis remained untraded, rumors had already spread online about his desire to join the Knicks. Over the years, Giannis never explicitly requested a trade but has repeatedly hinted at the possibility of leaving Milwaukee.
However, over the past two seasons, the likelihood of the Knicks acquiring him has not been viewed favorably, as the team nearly exhausted its draft assets in the trade for Mikal Bridges.
Although the Knicks' chances this summer are still not high, they can now offer enough pick swap rights to make the trade framework at least appear feasible. Especially if Giannis informs other suitors that the Knicks are the only team he would agree to re-sign with, the possibility of this deal would significantly increase.
Losing Towns' outside shooting would impact the Knicks considerably—it was key for creating space for Jalen Brunson's drives. But even with Giannis' age and injury concerns, this trade would still represent a massive upgrade in talent.
For the Bucks, this would likely only be the start of subsequent moves. Towns is not ideal for a rebuilding team, but he still holds high trade value; the Bucks could flip him again to further enhance the return for Giannis.
Although the chance that the Knicks' 2028 draft position surpasses the Bucks' is extremely slim, the long-term picks beyond 2030 (when Giannis and Brunson would both be past their prime) could ultimately become immensely valuable.
The Bucks might insist on including the rookie selected by the Knicks in 2026 and the team's last two future second-round picks, but the above offer is already worth serious consideration.
2. Orlando Magic: Abandoning the Paolo Banchero-Centered Building Plan
Magic receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bucks receive: Paolo Banchero, Wendell Carter Jr., 2031 first-round pick swap rights, 2032 first-round pick

We mentioned a similar proposal in another report this week, and the latest news makes this trade even more worthy of discussion.
In the earlier version, the Magic also needed to send out Anthony Black, but as Giannis' relationship with the Bucks deteriorates further each week, the Bucks might become more eager to complete a deal.
This trade would allow the Bucks to acquire a 23-year-old former All-Star. Banchero has flaws, but at 6'10", he has averaged 23.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists over the past three seasons.
His scoring efficiency issues are indeed concerning, but players with both size and playmaking ability remain scarce, and he still has ample time to refine his shooting.
Banchero still possesses the potential to be the core of a strong team. For the Magic, this trade is not without risk. Giannis is eight years older than Banchero, and his injury concerns intensify yearly. But after acquiring Desmond Bane via trade last summer, the Magic have officially entered an immediate championship window, and Giannis could instantly propel them into the contender tier.
3. Miami Heat: Returning to the Superstar Chase
Heat receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bucks receive: Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Jović, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Nikola Jović, 2030 first-round pick, 2032 top-three protected first-round pick

Whenever discussing potential destinations for stars, the Heat always seem to be an unavoidable option. And this time, Giannis also has every reason to be interested in this team.
Wiggins' contract expires in 2026-27 and is not excessively high, allowing the Bucks to trade him later for more assets. Jović, Jaquez, and Jović can immediately inject potential into the Bucks' lackluster young core. The 2030 and 2032 picks are long-term assets after Giannis' prime ends.
Of course, the Heat would need to address spacing issues with Giannis and Bam Adebayo coexisting, and the frontcourt might become slightly crowded (some suggest replacing Jović with Caleb Martin in the deal).
But a defensive system anchored by Adebayo and Giannis holds terrifying potential, and the two-man game between Giannis and Tyler Herro could be explosively effective.
Essentially, this trade would give top-tier coach Erik Spoelstra another superstar. Spoelstra won a championship with an MVP-level player and twice unexpectedly led teams to the Finals with secondary stars. Giannis would give this renowned coach another chance to build a dominant team.
4. Chicago Bulls: Top Major Market + Glorious History
Bulls receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bucks receive: Josh Giddey, Patrick Williams, Matas Buzelis, 2026/2028/2030/2032 first-round picks

Those advocating patience and steady rebuilding might advise the Bulls against this trade. After the deal, the Bulls would have no other star to pair with Giannis and lack sufficient assets to acquire another star (though the Bulls might persuade the Bucks to reduce the number of first-round picks by 1-2).
But Chicago is a top major market in the league, with a glorious history, yet it has been too long without truly contending for a championship.
Acquiring Giannis would make it easier for the Bulls to attract other stars. Giannis paired with a top-tier supporting star could make the Bulls a championship contender in the East.
Although Giddey and Buzelis still have untapped potential, their ceilings are far below that of Giannis, who remains in the late stages of his prime.
For the Bucks, this trade provides a wealth of assets suitable for rebuilding, along with a batch of quality young talent, which is typically the type of return teams seek when trading a superstar like Giannis.
