20 shots, 21 points! Going toe-to-toe with the Chinese men's basketball team! Officially signed with the Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers officially announced that they have signed a two-way contract with John Tongje.

This guy led the Cameroon men's basketball team in a FIBA International Solidarity Cup exhibition game against the Chinese men's basketball team a couple of days ago. He played 34 minutes, shooting 7-for-20 from the field, including 4-for-11 from three-point range, scoring 21 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, while committing 3 turnovers and 4 fouls. The team lost 79-113.

Tongje was born on April 23, 2001. He is a combo guard standing 1.93m tall with a 2.06m wingspan. He was the 23rd pick in the second round of the 2025 draft. Last season, he played six regular-season games for the Celtics, averaging 7 minutes per game with 2.5 points and 1 rebound. In this year's Summer League, he averaged 24.1 minutes, contributing 14.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1.2 steals per game, with shooting percentages of 51% and 45.2% from the field and three-point range respectively.

Considering the fierce competition in the Trail Blazers' backcourt next season, with players like Morant, Lillard, Holiday, Sharpe, and Henderson, it is expected that Tongje will be a long-term partner with Yang Hansen in the G League.
