Hello everyone, I'm Xiao Di from Gaming Channel.
Friends who often play soft supports must deeply relate. Since Honor of Kings expanded the ten-ban slots to the entire draft mode, it's safe to say that most of the heroes you want to play end up banned, especially heroes like Cai Wenji, Yao, and Doria, which is quite frustrating. So, is there a soft support hero that is equally useful but rarely banned? Sun Bin might be a good choice.

Sun Bin is currently almost a "forgotten" hero, with a pick rate of only about 5%, and of course, his ban rate is even lower, less than 3%. This ban rate means he is extremely unlikely to be banned; typically, you might encounter Sun Bin banned only 2-3 times in 100 games. Compared to popular heroes like Cai Wenji and Yao, the difference is about tenfold, so you can play him freely.
The reason he is said to be almost "forgotten" is not only due to low player usage but also because the developers haven't adjusted this hero for a long time. Xiao Di checked the records; the last strength adjustment for Sun Bin was in November 2023, nearly two years ago, and those were nerfs or balance adjustments. Mainly because during that period, Sun Bin benefited from equipment advantages, which significantly boosted his strength, so restrictions were placed on his second skill and passive.

Some might wonder: this hero seems completely unplayable, why recommend him? Sun Bin's win rate performance is actually not bad; currently, it fluctuates around 50%, which is relatively normal strength. This is why the developers haven't planned adjustments for over two years, so he is definitely playable. Moreover, Xiao Di personally believes that Sun Bin can somewhat increase game win rates because he can effectively secure the team's baseline, acting as a safety net.

To play Sun Bin well, remember these three points:
First, team fights are Sun Bin's comfort zone. Unlike most soft supports, Sun Bin excels in team fights, where his second skill can be best utilized. The second skill provides speed boost to all teammates; with speed, you can retreat defensively or advance aggressively. Additionally, the second skill grants teammates health and mana regeneration—officially described as time reversal, unaffected by grievous wounds—giving teammates more sustained combat capability during team fights. Friendly reminder: if teammates are too scattered, Sun Bin should stay closer to your team's frontline during fights to maximize the second skill's effect.

Second, silence is always a killer move. Sun Bin's other special effect is the silence from his ultimate, which tests the player's familiarity with all heroes' skills. Only by thoroughly understanding enemy skills can you use your ultimate to interrupt them during their casting wind-up. For example, Su Lie's ultimate requires charging; Sun Bin's silence is very effective here, directly interrupting it. The same applies to other heroes, though casting wind-ups vary in length.

Finally, damage is higher than imagined. Sun Bin's damage is often overlooked by many players. If both his first and third skills hit, even with mostly tank items, the damage output is considerable. Especially with the delayed explosion design of the first skill, it helps Sun Bin intercept many fleeing low-health heroes.
