Taking over the new club, Ronaldo immediately faces debt demands

Flamengo Club unexpectedly attacks UD Almería over a long-standing debt exceeding 1.8 million Euros, while also mentioning Cristiano Ronaldo in the attention-grabbing incident.

Flamengo Club has issued a firm statement targeting UD Almería regarding a debt arising from the transfer deal for player Lázaro Vinicius in 2022. Notably, the incident indirectly involves superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who is reportedly having purchased 25% shares of the Spanish club through his company CR7 Sports Investments.

According to Flamengo, Almería currently owes approximately 1.8 million Euros after 590 days of delayed payment. The Brazilian club's representatives assert that this debt stems from the Spanish club's failure to fully fulfill the financial obligations committed in the transfer contract for Lázaro back in August 2022.

Flamengo emphasizes that the matter is "clear and undeniable," as the contract specifically stipulates Almería's responsibility for paying or reimbursing taxes incurred in Spain. However, despite Flamengo having had to advance this amount and even receiving an official ruling from FIFA confirming their right to reimbursement, Almería still has not fulfilled its obligation.

Not limited to financial issues, Flamengo expresses deep dissatisfaction with the partner's conduct. According to them, what is even more concerning is the "intentional delay," negatively impacting transparency and trustworthiness in professional football contractual relationships.

Nevertheless, the Brazilian club states it still trusts the relevant authorities, particularly the Court of Arbitration for Sport, to deliver an appropriate ruling. Flamengo expects the decisions already made within FIFA's framework to be fully enforced, thereby ensuring commitments between parties are respected.
