Vietnam U20 women's team shifts to late-night training sessions in preparation for the encounter with Thailand U20 women's team.
On April 2 afternoon, the Vietnam U20 women's national team resumed training at Bangkok (Thailand), continuing preparations for the second match in the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup Finals. The day before, coach Okiyama Masahiko and his players had just played their opening match against China U20 women's team.
Notably, the training session was scheduled to start late to help players gradually adapt to the living and competition schedule, as Vietnam U20 women's team will play consecutive upcoming matches in the evening.
During this session, the coaching staff proactively divided the squad into two groups to ensure appropriate workload. Players who played extensively in yesterday's match underwent light training with recovery exercises, relaxation, and stretching. Meanwhile, the remaining group continued professional training, focusing on tactical skills and team organization to prepare for the next match.
According to the match schedule, Vietnam U20 women's team will face host Thailand U20 women's team at 20:00 on April 4 at Thammasat Stadium. This is predicted to be a challenging match as the opponent holds home advantage.
Head coach Okiyama Masahiko commented: "The host team's advantages in the upcoming match are numerous, including weather, spectators, familiarity with the pitch, and favorable match timing. Those are the home advantages when they are favorable in all aspects. We will carry out optimal recovery, ensuring players' physical fitness to compete in the next match against Thailand."
The coaching staff stated that the team will maintain focus, while emphasizing recovery work and tactical preparation in the coming days, aiming for the best performance in the encounter with Thailand U20 women's team.
