Thai-American naturalized player declares victory over Vietnam, securing ticket to U20 World Cup

Thai-American forward Madison Jade Casteen of the Thai U20 team expresses determination to defeat Vietnam U20 in the second match of the 2026 AFC U20 Asian Cup.

In the opening match, the Thai women's U20 football team narrowly defeated Bangladesh with a score of 3-2, thereby securing three crucial points before facing Vietnam U20 in the next match.

Prior to the latest training session, forward Madison Jade Casteen of Thailand U20 shared notable remarks. She revealed that her personal performance was not as desired despite the team's victory. Madison also admitted that the whole team felt some anxiety because this was their first match in the tournament.

"My own performance was not good enough, even though the team won 3-2. We need to review the details and improve. Perhaps the whole team was a bit nervous because this was their first match in this tournament."

Furthermore, this forward of half-Thai descent stated that her physical condition remains good, despite having to adapt to the time difference after arriving in Thailand on March 29. Madison emphasized that coordination with teammates is still very good, as many of them have played together since the U17 team.

Speaking about the goal in the match against Vietnam U20, Madison affirmed: "The team's goal is to secure a ticket to the Youth World Cup. We want to win against Vietnam, and personally I hope to score a goal. Thank you to the fans for their support."

Forward Madison Jade Casteen is a Thai-American player born in 2007. She comes from the prestigious NC Courage Academy and has been called up to the Thai women's national team multiple times.
