AFC expressed one thing when Vietnam lost to China 0-3

AFC highlighted the crucial differences after Vietnam's U20 women's team suffered a 0-3 loss to China, with the East Asian side showcasing dominant quality in their debut match at the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup 2026.

According to observations from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), China's U20 women's team had an impressive start by defeating Vietnam's U20 women's team 3-0 in Group A of the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup 2026. The match at Nonthaburi Stadium saw the East Asian side control the game and utilize opportunities more effectively to create a clear distinction.

Nevertheless, Vietnam's U20 women's team did not start passivelyFrom the very first minutes, the Southeast Asian representative showed attacking intent with a narrow-angle shot by Ngân Thị Thanh Hiếu following a pass from Lê Hồng Yêu. However, as AFC analyzed, the difference lay in China's ability to maintain pressure and capitalize on chances—the key factor determining the match's outcome.

After initial probing minutes, China's U20 women's team gradually increased pressure. In the 16th minute, Vietnam's defense had to repeatedly defend as goalkeeper Lê Thị Thu blocked a close-range shot before teammates timely cleared the danger. Despite holding firm for over half of the first half, Vietnam's defensive system still showed signs of overload under continuous attacks.

The turning point arrived at the end of the first half in an unfortunate manner. From a chaotic situation in the penalty area, Zheng Luu quickly struck to open the scoring for China, exactly as AFC described the moment of "seizing the opportunity from a loose ball." Just minutes later, this forward completed a double with a close-range finish following a favorable cross, allowing the home team to lead 2-0 before halftime.

In the second half, the game situation did not change much as China's U20 women's team continued to maintain pressure. Opportunities were created consecutively, from long-range shots to headers inside the penalty area, forcing Vietnam's defense to retreat deeply. Meanwhile, declining stamina made it difficult for the red-shirted team to launch counterattacks.

The rare efforts of Vietnam's U20 women's team, such as An Hoàng Cúc's long-range shot or Ngân Thị Thanh Hiếu's narrow-angle finish, could not create surprises. AFC also emphasized the focus of China's defense, especially the goalkeeper, in neutralizing the limited opportunities from Vietnam.

In the 77th minute, China sealed the victory with the decisive third goal. From a free-kick situation on the left flank, the ball rebounded and Tăng Dục Gia quickly finished inside the penalty area, matching the scenario of "utilizing the second ball" mentioned by AFC. The match concluded with a comprehensive defeat for Vietnam's U20 women's team, and simultaneously revealed the gap in composure and effectiveness between the two sides on their opening day.
