Coach Okiyama acknowledges that the game against Thailand U20 will be challenging for the Vietnam U20 squad, highlighting three players to watch closely.
On April 4 evening, the Vietnam women's U20 team will enter a decisive match for the advancing ticket against Thailand U20 within the 2026 AFC Women's U20 Asian Championship finals. In the first round, Coach Okiyama's squad lost to China with a score of 0-3.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the Japanese coach of Vietnam U20 shared: “First, we will focus on recovery and ensuring all players are physically ready,” he said.
“In the match against Thailand, the team will continue to play defensively and strive to regain possession better by organizing effective and structured counterattacks,”Coach Okiyama emphasized once again.
Regarding the match against the host Thailand, the Japanese strategist admitted this is not an easy task.
“There are many favorable factors for Thailand as this is their home ground. From weather, familiarity with the pitch to home crowd support, all are advantageous for them,” he stated.
To prepare for the match, Coach Okiyama revealed he has thoroughly analyzed the opponent: “Furthermore, I have noted the attacking style of Kurisara Limpawanich and Cayden Illiana, along with Pichayatida Manowang in midfield, and we must focus on limiting their strengths.”
