Learning from Vietnam, Thailand strengthens Thai diaspora players for the national team.

Following the successes of Vietnamese football with Vietnamese diaspora players, Thai football is also seriously considering enhancing Thai diaspora players for the national team.

After the dramatic 2-1 victory over Turkmenistan in the final qualifying round match, the Thai national team has officially secured its place in the 2027 Asian Cup Finals. Immediately after this achievement, the President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) - Mrs. Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang) revealed ambitious plans to further elevate the War Elephants.

Thailand is planning to strengthen Thai diaspora players for the 2027 Asian Games.

Speaking to Thairath, Madam Pang confirmed that the Thai national team's squad for the upcoming Asian Cup will be supplemented with more high-quality players of foreign origin. Although not naming anyone personally, the female president confidently declared:

"We are working to bring in more outstanding mixed-race players to enhance our strength for the 2027 tournament. I cannot reveal details at this moment, but fans will certainly have a big surprise. Let's wait and see how big that shock will be in the upcoming 9-month preparation period".

In reality, the impact of Thai diaspora players was clearly demonstrated in the decisive match against Turkmenistan. Thailand fielded a series of names such as Jude Soontraph-Bell (England), Nicholas Mickelson (Norway), Jonathan Khemdee (Denmark), and Manuel Tom Bihr (Germany). According to Golden Temple media, FAT is currently targeting at least three new faces to persuade them to contribute to the national team.

Thai diaspora players like Nicholas Mickelson are making a strong impression in the Thai jersey.

Besides personnel matters, the captain's seat is also a matter of particular concern for FAT. Coach Anthony Hudson (45 years old, English), who was initially appointed with a short-term contract to replace Mr. Masatada Ishii with the sole goal of passing the qualifiers, is likely to be rewarded with a long-term contract.

This tactician excellently completed his task by leading Thailand to secure a ticket to the continent's top tournament with a perfect record: winning all three matches. Mr. Hudson's skillful handling has greatly pleased Thai football's top brass, who wish to engage him long-term to pursue further goals.

Speaking about the future of the English strategist, Madam Pang revealed: "Coach Hudson has outlined and presented a long-term strategic plan for the national team. We will soon sit down for in-depth discussions on this matter, thereby establishing the clearest directions and roadmap for the team's future".
