Multiple Saudi Arabian clubs such as Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, and Al-Nassr have faced AFC sanctions for breaching discipline in continental tournaments, with cumulative penalties reaching tens of thousands of dollars.
Numerous football teams from the Saudi Pro League have received sanctions from the Asian Football Confederation following violations that occurred in recent matches within continental-level tournaments.
According to the newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, AFC's Disciplinary Committee issued a series of penalty decisions targeting clubs participating in the AFC Champions League and the AFC Cup.
Among these, Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli were both penalized in the AFC Champions League, while Al-Ittihad did not receive any sanctions. Additionally, Al-Nassr also faced disciplinary action while participating in AFC Champions League 2.
Notably, the heaviest penalty was imposed on Al-Hilal, amounting to 35,000 USD. Furthermore, Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez was fined 20,000 USD for not participating in media activities after the match against Al-Wahda in the eighth round of the group stage.
Meanwhile, Al-Ahli was fined a total of 9,250 USD for arriving late before the match against Shabab Al-Ahli, and also for allowing unauthorized personnel into the playing area.
In another development, Al-Nassr was fined 1,750 USD after players arrived late before the second half in the match against the Turkmenistan representative Arkadag during the first leg of the round of 16.
These penalties demonstrate AFC's tightening of discipline to ensure professionalism and compliance with regulations in continental-level competitions.
