The head coach of the Thai U20 team expressed satisfaction with his team's 4-1 win against Vietnam in the second match of Group A at the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup 2026.
Speaking at the press conference after the 4-1 victory over the Vietnamese U20 women's team, the head coach of the Thai U20 women's team stated: "I think the young players are beginning to adapt well to the style of play, especially in the match against Vietnam. They were quite confident because they had faced this opponent before, so they felt they could succeed. With the training methods we learned in Vietnam, we went there to coach them. Today, I believe everyone performed very well.", Coach Nueang said.
"The first match was quite tense because it was the first time playing at home. Everyone was quite excited and forgot how to play. And they conceded goals at a rate that shouldn't have happened. They were ahead but lost focus during the match. I must praise the girls. They tried hard. Ultimately, they were determined to equalize and secure three points. Those are considered hard-earned points,"the strategist added.
Coach Nueang also praised number 7 Rinyaphat - who scored a double against Le Thi Thu: "A key part of the team is captain Rinyaphat Muldong. She has been a talented player with strong leadership qualities. She can unite her teammates. Currently, she cannot participate due to fulfilling duties with her club. This is seen as a good opportunity. We have seen other new players playing in the same position, which gives us more options for this role."
"Regarding limiting phone use, I want the players to rest adequately. Because at teenage age, the most important thing is dealing with social media. They are still young and sensitive to criticism. All criticism is constructive. But they are still young to handle that. I try to focus more on the team, friends, and myself. Focus on what you love, which is playing football more,"she added about requiring players not to use social media during competition.
Speaking about the final match against U20 China, this strategist said: "We have prepared for that match. We have planned. We have mapped out the path. If we secure the top position, we will have the chance to meet the second-placed team. So, we want things to proceed according to plan. We share the same goal. Therefore, the next match against the Chinese national team is a crucial one. It is a match that helps the young players accumulate experience to advance to the Asian level."
