The Vietnam futsal team has officially finalized its 14-player squad for the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship, with the significant point of interest being the comeback of seasoned goalkeeper Ho Van Y.
In this current list, the Vietnam futsal team continues to maintain its familiar core framework with many experienced faces who have competed in numerous international arenas. Additionally, the coaching staff has also provided opportunities for some young players to test themselves. Among them, Nguyen Thac Hieu is a notable name who managed to leave an impression and secure a spot in the final roster.
Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Tran Van Luong (Saigon Titans) is a name not included in the final list. Despite being called up to the national team since 2025 and being assessed as promising, Van Luong still could not compete for the position upon Ho Van Y's return.
On the other hand, the reappearance of Ho Van Y is considered a crucial boost for the team. Throughout the preparation process, this goalkeeper demonstrated stability both in training sessions and friendly matches. His experience and composure are expected to further solidify Vietnam's futsal defense. Alongside Pham Van Tu, Ho Van Y is anticipated to form a reliable goalkeeper duo for the upcoming journey.
In the group stage of the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship, Coach Diego Giustozzi and his squad will successively face Myanmar (April 6), Timor-Leste (April 7), and host Thailand (April 8). With a squad blending experience and youthful energy, the Vietnam futsal team is expected to perform well and aim for a deep run in this year's tournament.
