Thai coach determined to do his best in the match against Vietnam

The head coach of Thailand's national futsal team expressed caution ahead of the match against Vietnam in the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship.

On April 7th evening, the first matches of the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship commenced. In Group A, both Vietnam and Thailand secured their opening victories, but the host team ranked lower due to a poorer goal difference.

Sharing after the match, Thailand's head coach Rakphon Sai Netnam said: "Getting the first 3 points is acceptable. However, in the second half, we did not play well, almost like a different team compared to the first half. The whole team needs to review the mistakes that occurred.

The performance in the second half was truly not good; we need to adjust and elevate the team, while also improving the players' psychological issues. The players themselves also recognize that, but we are still happy to have gotten the 3 points."

Speaking about East Timor scoring a goal in the second half, the Thai strategist stated: "After conceding a goal, I mainly tried to boost the players' morale. Tactically there were also adjustments, but not many. Afterwards, the team improved a bit, but still not enough for me to be satisfied."

In the second match, the host team will face Myanmar, before entering the crucial match against Vietnam in the final round. Regarding the two upcoming matches, coach Rakphon Sai Netnam said:

"Our group has many strong teams. I think Timor Leste can definitely create exciting matches against the remaining two opponents. For the upcoming matches against Myanmar and Vietnam, we must perform as best as we can. The whole team will return to analyze, correct mistakes, and play better than today."
