Bac Ninh FC is said to be nearing an agreement for experienced Kosovo international Astrit Selmani on loan, a move that draws attention before the 2026/27 V.League season.
Bac Ninh FC is reportedly close to sealing a loan deal for Astrit Selmani from Shaanxi Union, commonly abbreviated as SX Union in China. If terms are finalized, the 1997-born striker will become one of the foreign players possessing a notable international profile the most among the V.League 2026/27 newcomers.
Selmani was born in Malmö, Sweden, stands 1.84 m tall, is right-footed, and primarily plays as a center forward. He has 5 caps for Kosovo and scored 1 goal. He developed through various levels of Swedish football before exploding onto the scene with Varbergs BoIS, where he scored 30 goals in 51 matches in the national league and second division. That form paved the way for Selmani to join Hammarby, with whom he won the Swedish Cup in the 2020/21 season.
The Kosovo international's career then spread across Israel, Denmark, and Romania. He played for Hapoel Be'er Sheva, was loaned to Midtjylland and IFK Göteborg, before rediscovering his scoring touch at Dinamo București. Astrit Selmani has scored 105 goals in 313 appearances for clubs within the European football system. This record partly demonstrates the goal-scoring instinct that the Kosovo striker has maintained across different environments, from Sweden, Denmark, Israel to Romania. In the 2024/25 season alone, Selmani scored 14 goals and provided 7 assists in 36 matches in the Romanian league, becoming one of Dinamo's most important attacking links.
In July 2025, Selmani moved to Shaanxi Union on a free transfer and signed a contract until the end of 2027. As of the match on July 18, he had a total of 9 goals and 7 assists in 26 appearances in the Chinese League One. He is not just a striker who waits for the ball in the box. Selmani has been used as a number 9, number 10, and even dropped into a number 8 midfield role, thereby demonstrating the ability to adapt to various attacking structures..
In an interview with Fotbollskanalen in early July, Selmani emphasized: "My goal is still to play at the highest level possible. Right now, my family feels comfortable here." He also acknowledged the special pressure on foreign players in China: "When we win, everything is great. But when we lose, people look at us."
Therefore, Bac Ninh FC's interest in Selmani is not without professional basis. The Kinh Bac team has just earned promotion to the V.League after defeating PVF-CAND in the play-off match, while also beginning to rebuild the squad by parting ways with a number of players and adding Brazilian midfielder Vitor Hugo. A center forward who has experienced many football environments, with the ability to score and link play, will suit the need to upgrade the attack ahead of a tougher season.
His journey through multiple clubs shows transnational playing experience, ability to withstand pressure, and instinct to make a difference. The notable question is not just whether Selmani will come to Bac Ninh, but how the Quan Ho team is preparing to build a new attack around a number 9.
