Update on the rankings of top players in the ATP and WTA rankings as of March 30 Vietnam time.
ATP 1000 - WTA 1000 Tournament Miami Open 2026 concluded this morning, March 30, after the final between Jannik Sinner and Jiri Lehecka - which saw Sinner crowned champion, thereby completing the prestigious "Sunshine Double". The world tennis rankings were updated immediately afterward with notable changes.
Sinner's Miami Open title and not having to defend any points allowed the Italian player to gain the full 1,000 points, narrowing the gap with his main rival Carlos Alcaraz to just 1,190 points. In Miami, Carlitos stopped in the third round after losing to Sebastian Korda, but the world number one did not lose any points, even gaining 40 points.
Novak Djokovic withdrew from the tournament and failed to defend his runner-up title, resulting in a deduction of 650 points, now falling out of the world top 3. Alexander Zverev replaced Nole's position, while Lorenzo Musetti remains in the top 5 but is expected to see significant ranking changes as the European clay season begins.
In other developments, Taylor Fritz dropped to 8th place, Jiri Lehecka with his Miami runner-up position rose 8 spots to 14th - his career-high ranking, while the 2025 Miami champion Jakub Mensik failed to defend his title and fell to 26th place (dropping 13 spots).
In the WTA, Aryna Sabalenka firmly holds the world number 1 spot after successfully defending her title in Florida, Coco Gauff rose to 3rd place with her runner-up finish, pushing Iga Swiatek down to 4th. Elina Svitolina climbed to 7th, pushing Jasmine Paolini down to 8th, while Karolina Muchova is close to the top 10 (rising 3 spots to 11th).
Notably, the reigning SEA Games gold medalist Alexandra Eala failed to defend the points she earned at the Miami Open 2025, where she reached the semifinals and became a tennis phenomenon since then. The young Philippine star dropped 15 spots to 45th place, meaning Janice Tjen (41st) becomes the current number one female tennis player in Southeast Asia.
Both Janice Tjen and Alex Eala have opportunities to improve their world rankings in the upcoming European clay season as they do not have many points to defend.
