As Sinner once again defeats Lehecka in straight sets, who performed exceptionally well in this Miami tournament, the North American Sunshine Double season concludes. Ultimately, Sinner and Sabalenka both secured back-to-back singles titles at Indian Wells and Miami.
How rare is this achievement? This is only the fourth time in history that male and female players have crowned the Sunshine Double in the same year. Let's see:

1994: Sampras & Graf
2005: Federer & Clijsters
2016: Djokovic & Azarenka
2026: Sinner & Sabalenka
As the premier hardcourt tournaments仅次于 the US Open and Australian Open, success at these two events signifies formidable hardcourt prowess, especially when achieved consecutively in the same year.
The first pair to simultaneously achieve this were the homegrown legend Sampras and the iconic champion Graf. In the era before the Big Three and Serena Williams rose to dominance, they were unquestionably the greatest of their time, making their sweep unsurprising.

Since then, simultaneous Sunshine Double crowns by male and female players have occurred approximately once every decade. Federer and Clijsters, champions from two relatively small but highly competitive tennis nations, both shone brilliantly. Federer's dominant double crown was expected, while Clijsters' consecutive victories were another highlight of her career, alongside her comeback Grand Slam win.
Regarding the king of hardcourt, Djokovic rivals Federer. He accomplished this feat alongside Azarenka in 2016. However, while Djokovic remains competitive today, Azarenka's form post-comeback has been inconsistent. Although she hasn't announced retirement, her current level is far from her peak.

Notably in this Sunshine Double, this marks the fifth time Sinner and Sabalenka have won titles at the same tournament simultaneously:
2024 Australian Open
2024 Cincinnati
2024 US Open
2026 Indian Wells
2026 Miami

It's somewhat surprising that all five instances have occurred on hardcourt, with four taking place within the United States mainland. In recent years, while Sabalenka has occasionally faltered in Grand Slams and Alcaraz has fully emerged on hardcourt, Sinner and Sabalenka, as the premier hardcourt champions, have remained resilient and synchronized even more frequently.
Another interesting note is from the Chinese season two years ago. Although Sinner and Sabalenka did not win simultaneously at the same tournament, they both claimed titles during the same week at the Shanghai Masters and Wuhan Open, which can also be considered a remarkable "synchronization."(Source: Tennis Home Author: Luo Cheng Qi Ye)
