A 1.95m tall volleyball player sets an unprecedented record in Vietnam's volleyball scene.

This exceptionally tall hitter is making impressive strides in her career.

Vietnam's tallest female volleyball player, Ly Thi Luyen, recently achieved a memorable milestone in her career by helping Nakhon Ratchasima reach the finals of the Thai National Championship 2025-2026.

In the match held on March 28, Nakhon Ratchasima, with its quality roster including Ly Luyen, Sirima Manakij, Papatchaya Phontham, and Tichakorn Boonlert, easily defeated KKU Khonkaen Star, featuring players like Chitaporn Kamlangmak and Darin Pinsuwan, with a score of 3-0. The Vietnamese player also made a significant impact in the final set with excellent blocking plays.

This achievement makes Ly Thi Luyen the first Vietnamese volleyball player to reach national championship finals in three different countries. Previously, the hitter born in 2000 had won five times with Lao Cai team as runner-up in domestic competitions, and not long ago also secured the silver medal in the Mongolian National Championship with Hobby Ace , and most recently helped Nakhon Ratchasima reach the final match of the Thai league this season.

This is also an excellent opportunity for Ly Luyen to end her drought of national championship titles. Nakhon Ratchasima possesses a strong and balanced lineup and is the top contender for the championship cup in this year's Thai league.

Ly Luyen and her teammates' opponent in the final will be Harudot Chonburi RMUTT VC - the team that surprisingly defeated Supreme Chonburi. Although RMUTT's roster includes notable players like Nannaphat Moonjakham - a young, attractive setter who played for Bac Ninh, Natthanicha Jaisaen - a setter who played in Japan and also competed in Vietnam for Quang Ninh, along with national team libero Jidapa Nahuanong, Nakhon Ratchasima is still considered superior.

The Thai National Championship final this season will take place on April 4. After the tournament, Ly Thi Luyen will quickly return to Vietnam to join Lao Cai team for Phase 1 of the 2026 National Club Championship in Dong Anh, Hanoi.
