The most anticipated face in the Vietnamese women's volleyball team during the first training camp of 2026

Following the completion of stage 1 of the 2026 National Volleyball Championship for clubs, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is set to gather for its initial training camp, anticipated by the end of this month. Who is the most eagerly awaited player?

This year, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will participate in several important tournaments and is also highly expected. Immediately, Coach Tuấn Kiệt's players will focus on preparing for the first competition, the 2026 AVC Cup. This tournament is part of the ranking system for national teams under the World Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

The Vietnamese women's team has won this championship for the last three consecutive editions, but this year will face greater challenges as the tournament includes the South Korean women's team.

To prepare for the 2026 AVC Cup, scheduled for June this year, Coach Tuấn Kiệt will call up a preliminary list of players before finalizing the official roster.

It is still just speculation, but the preliminary list for the national women's volleyball team in the first call-up of this year may include many faces, both old and new.

The preliminary list could include Trần Thị Thanh Thúy, Như Quỳnh, Quỳnh Hương, Ánh Thảo, Nguyễn Huỳnh Phương Thùy, Tú Linh, Nguyễn Thị Uyên, Hoàng Hồng Hạnh (outside hitters),

Kiều Trinh, Bích Huệ, Kim Thanh, Trà My (opposite hitters), Trần Thị Bích Thủy, Lê Thanh Thúy, Lưu Thị Huệ, Như Anh, Phương Quỳnh, Minh Thu, Lý Thị Luyến, Lê Thùy Linh (middle blockers), Kim Thoa, Lâm Oanh, Yến Nhi, Đinh Thị Vân (setters) and Khánh Đang, Ninh Anh, Thảo Nguyên, Cà Thị Tư (liberos).

In the above list, the actual playing ability of Kiều Trinh and Tú Linh remains uncertain as they are injured (Kiều Trinh) or not fully recovered (Tú Linh).

The most eagerly awaited face is likely middle blocker Lý Thị Luyến. She was part of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in several tournaments in 2023 but was not called up in 2024 and 2025.

However, Lý Thị Luyến has shown positive signs during her two overseas playing stints in the Mongolian and Thai National Championships.

If she genuinely improves her physical condition and blocking speed, this promises to be a solid reinforcement for Vietnam's middle blocker position, given that Nguyễn Thị Trinh is taking a break for family reasons and Lê Thanh Thúy is approaching age 31.

What Lý Thị Luyến has demonstrated in the Mongolian and Thai National Championships is very good, so she fully has the opportunity to return to the national team and, moreover, she is expected to perform better than in 2023 in this comeback.
