Recording 31 points in the final of the second leg of the 2026 SEA V.Cup, Ngọc Thuân emerged as the hero leading the Vietnamese men's volleyball team to its first-ever championship in this event.
Thanks to his outstanding performance against Thailand, Ngọc Thuân achieved a "double" of individual awards: Best Outside Hitter and Most Valuable Player of the second leg of the 2026 SEA V.Cup.
Throughout the final, the top spiker of Vietnamese men's volleyball in recent years continuously troubled Thailand's block and backcourt with powerful jumps and forceful attacks that either hit the floor or bounced off the blockers.
Not only was he excellent in attack, but Ngọc Thuân also proved extremely tough in defense. Among his 31 points against Thailand, 4 came from blocks. The number 17 outside hitter was the second-best blocker on the Vietnamese team, trailing only middle blocker Trương Thế Khải (5 blocks).

Ngọc Thuân displays great variety in his ball handling. He can attack from behind the 3-meter line, spike down the line, hit sharp cross-court shots, execute back-row attacks, or use wipe-off and roll shots.
Besides frequently unleashing powerful spikes, Ngọc Thuân is also ready to execute delicate tips when he spots an open space on the opponent's side.
Following in the footsteps of "scoring machines" like Ngô Văn Kiều, Nguyễn Hữu Hà, and Từ Thanh Thuận, Nguyễn Ngọc Thuân has been and continues to affirm his status as the number one spiker in Vietnamese volleyball.
Standing at 1.93m tall with a long wingspan, excellent jumping ability, and tremendous hitting power, Nguyễn Ngọc Thuân has become the leading figure of the Vietnamese men's volleyball team.
His outstanding performances at the 2026 SEA V.Cup helped Ngọc Thuân solidify his position as the top spiker in Vietnamese men's volleyball.
Earlier, this 1999-born star also had a very successful year in 2022. After scoring 93 points at the AVC Nations Cup (the most on the Vietnamese team), the outside hitter from Biên Phòng MB went on to deliver brilliant performances at the 2025 SEA V.League.
At the end of the two legs of the 2025 SEA V.League, Ngọc Thuân made a strong impression by being named "Best Outside Hitter" by the organizers in both Leg 1 (Vietnam placed third) and Leg 2 (Vietnam finished as runners-up).
Statistics show that Ngọc Thuân scored a total of 69 points in 8 matches across both legs of the 2025 SEA V.League, the highest on the Vietnamese team and equal to Indonesia's Boy, who won the Most Valuable Player award.
At the age of 27, Nguyễn Ngọc Thuân maintains very consistent form and is one of the best outside hitters in Vietnamese volleyball today.
Two international honors at the 2025 SEA V.League marked a significant step forward in his career, and Ngọc Thuân continued to affirm his class at the 2026 SEA V.Cup with another double of individual titles.
On the domestic stage, this spiker originally from Thái Bình (formerly) also received the Best Outside Hitter award three times in a row at the Hùng Vương Cup (2022, 2023, 2024).
At the age of 27, Ngọc Thuân is in the prime of his career and promises to have many more years of top-level performance ahead. If he can improve his first-pass reception, this talented outside hitter will surely go even further.
